Do What You Love - Lettering

I really like this quote: " Let the beauty of what you Love be what you do," it speaks to my soul.  I started out with a used canvas with many layers.   My tools were a flat brush, pointed brush, acrylic paints, stamp and stencil.  The calligrapher in me gets very picky and is not happy with the lettering, but the abstract artist in me loves the unconventional approach of the letters.  The fact is when using acrylic paint on a rough surface you will not have smooth consistent letter shapes, but you will have letters with character.

Finished piece, maybe.

1)  I try not to plan where my words are going to be as I want an abstract feel to my work.

2)  After I stamped my owl, it was time to add some other colors.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your having a wonderful creative week

Tags and More

My muse came forth today and lead me along the path of small projects.  I made a couple of tags, a card and started another alphabet sheet which at present has no direction.  It's wonderful to complete short and sweet projects that evoke feeling of happiness.

Hope you and your muse have time to create some happiness.

Once Upon A Time

Once a upon a time, what a great way to start a story.  The story of this piece began several months ago when I was playing with left over coffee and a scrap pieces of Arches paper.  I had set it aside until just recently when a fellow calligrapher ask to use some of my work in her educational exhibit.  On it's return I was inspired to add a few more touches.  Is the story over, well we will see.......

The quote: Once Upon A Time is all mine.  Here's to fairytales coming true.  Have a wonderful week.

Just Playing Around

My schedule has been crazy with my new job, but it will settle down soon.  Meanwhile, I have taken a few minutes here and there to play in my studio.   Here are a couple of my  "Just Playing Around" pieces.

I used watercolor paper,  watercolors, FW ink and my Fanciful Outline Alphabet stamp, an owl stamp and Pearl Ex paints.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week.
